Cosma Shalizi

Wandering About Campus Before Dawn

Flowing from north to south
The white clouds race past a velvet sky.
I would climb these redwoods
Until I joined them, and rode the winds
Or whistle up the red-eared hounds
And run over the hills wet with dew
Till dawn freezes us to stone.
Black death pursues us
But we shall grow wings.
